This picture was taken by my fabulous Goob two years ago, and today I will have another one! USC robes are boring black, unlike Northwestern’s bright purple. Go Cats!! Oh…I mean uh…Fight on!! Trojans!

However, this time I have a hood and odd long winged sleeves, which, incidentally, someone told me provides a good place to store phone/keys/chapstick. Not sure I’m going to resort to that but we’ll see. Last time everyone almost passed out from the heat, today it’s supposed to be 73 and partly cloudy- thanks weather gods!! Now, time for some cheerios.

In 6 hours I will be 23 with a Master’s Degree!

Star Trek Into Darkness

I saw this in 3D last night at the Arclight Dome. It. Was. Awesome.

And watching it amongst all the trekkies was even better. They laughed at all the Star Trek insider jokes.

I must say, for 3/4ths of the movie I was wondering why the Enterprise didn’t have seat belts- and then they appeared in the most high-tech fashion I could have imagined.

Looks like it’s really happening. Out of the Closet came today to pick up mis muebles. I donated them instead of asking a Craigslist Killer to come and pay me for them. They wouldn’t take my bed because it’s a twin. They didn’t explain why that was an issue. But no matter! They took everything else. Graduation is 4 days away!

This post comes to you from my floor. As I alternatively turn the A/C on and off as it gets hot and then cold in here. It is 90 degrees afuera.

I feel as though I have been waiting to see for this movie for over a year. Oh wait, I have. And that is a lot to live up to for a movie. And boy did Baz Luhrmann deliver.

He gave me exactly what I wanted and more: excellent cast, fantastic production, killer soundtrack, faithful representation of the book, and last but not least, that goldmine of a costume wardrobe. After watching the movie, my friends and I heard many of the comments we’d just spoken, echoed by the sea of people leaving the arclight dome.

“How does Leo still look so young?!”

“Love that song…will you still love me when I’m no longer young and beautiful…”

Judging by the number of men at the theater dressed like Gatsby in linen 3 piece suits, I think it is safe to say Brooks Brothers will do well with their Great Gatsby inspired line this summer. I do think that in order to enjoy this movie to its absolute fullest, you need to have read the book (and remember it) just to appreciate all of the spot-on details Luhrmann kept. And, he finds a very creative way to give us Nick’s narration that was so present in the book.
